Plan, section and elevation. Coignet’s lighthouse was a construction that showed true technical progress, experimenting with a new concrete technique on a large scale. It was a copy of the Phare des Baleines designed twenty years earlier by the architect-engineer Léonce Reynaud at the tip of the Ile de Ré (off La Rochelle, France)
